I am putting an HEI dist. in my 67 camaro and would like to know if I use the existing wiring for the hot side of the coil to the Batt side of the HEI dist. If not where do I run the new wiring to.

Any help would be greatly appreaciated

Your 67 has a "resistor wire" built into the wire harness. That is, the white braided wire that attaches to your "coil +" terminal has some amount of resistance and acts like a built in ballast resistor. The other lead in this terminal is yellow and runs down to the starter motor's "relay" terminal which provides a full 12V to the coil while cranking for a hotter spark.

Your HEI needs a solid +12V source that goes hot when the ignition is turned on (no resistor!). You can follow the harness back to the firewall and pull the resistor wire terminal out of the connector and replace it with a solid copper wire (about 14 AWG should do it). Or, leave the wire in the harness and wire to the ignition switch through the firewall.

Good luck!
