Alright so my car is almost ready to start. When I turn the key I have nothing. The switch has power in the proper spaces and when I turn it to start my test light will come on.I crossed the poles at the starter and it cranks over. The car is a 67' that was auto but now converted to 4 speed. Are their any safety switches I am looking for to bypass ? Thanks

Hi Sick67,
It sounds like your neutral safety switch is not connected or you don't have one installed. It's the switch that should be located right above your clutch pedal. I believe it should have two thick purple wires running to it. If your car was originally a floor shifted automatic and you haven't completed the conversion, you'll have to open up the harness that ran to the console mounted neutral safety switch and now run the wires to the switch above the clutch pedal that you already have or will have to get. The problem may be something else, so wait for some more input from other members before taking my word for it. Good Luck, Paul

chances are you do not have the reverse lock-out rod hooked up to the lever on the steering column. if the rod is missing from the lever on the engine side of the steering column that's probably your problem. try moving the lever up and starting, if nothing then try pushing it all the way down and try again.
also, there is a different style switch mounted to the lower steering column for 4-speeds than automatics. make sure you have the correct switch.

hey sick67, is this a 67, or a 69? sorry, i forgot. only the 69's have the reverse lockout stuff. What I did on my 68 was... on the connector in the console that used to plug into the pg shifter, stick a paper clip in the pins on the 2 big purple wires.

on a '67 column shift car, that's where they'd be. on a floor shift car, they'd be in the console.
