Ok, now that you all have helped me solve one problem, please help me with the one final problem that I am having. . .

94 3.4L v-6 with 145K miles I hear a tapping sound which may be a lifter. The car does NOT make the sound when the engine is cold, and the noise disappears when the RPMs are up. I can't pinpoint, but it sounds as though the noise is coming from the front or passenger side. The car started making this noise after I recently added Slick 50 when I was one quart low. I have always used 5W-30. What do you guys think is the problem? What is the first thing I should try to fix it? What other solutions do you have? Thanks in advance for your help!

have you changed oil since adding slick-50?

i wouldn't use slick 50 because the teflon tends to plug up the filter prematurely. the tapping is probably wear on the bearings, when the oil is cold its thicker and takes up the extra cleance then as it warms up it thins out causeing the clearance to show up. either replace bearing or keep driving it,it'll go 200,000 easy if you change oil every 3000,ticking noises and all. just for the hell of it my wifes old tired 3.8 went 220,000 (got rid of it,but was still running).she ran it out of oil at least once a month(we were beating it into the ground, wasn't worth rebuilding).this thing would tick with a slight hint of a knock but ran strong even when we sold it.still haven't figured out why it never blew up or seized.
