: trick to snap boot on corners

First, I have searched a lot on the proper way to fold the top. I have my top and frame folded right and sitting down plenty low enough, but there is a good bunch of top material still in the two "corners". The boot goes on great everywhere except the two radius of the corners. There just seems no way to get the one or two clips in this area to snap over the trim piece. This is same for my original boot and the very nice aftermarket one I got from Year One. Does anyone have a good technique for attaching the boot? Somewhere you start first with the clips maybe? This is '67 but I guess they are all about the same?

I rarely put mine on, but when I do, I let the top and boot warm up in the sun a while before I lower the top and put on the boot. That seems to make it easier. Same with the removal a hot boot comes off easier then cold.

I'm guessing you probably already know this, but make sure your latches are in the down position. Also make sure you pull the top and pad out at the fold on each side when you are putting it down to lower the stack up. The heavier material some tops are made of can make it harder to get the stack down low enough too.

I hear you on the corners and it has nothing to do with the boot itself. I found putting the 2 on the curve on in the straight section next to the curve and sliding them into the curve works well. I've been doing it a while and have not noticed any damage from sliding the clip a few inches.

I have not found an easy way . The corners always pop loose. It looks like if they would make a cover just a little bigger it would work . I have noticed most do not even use the covers. heat does help .

When I had a tonneau cover on my pickup, I always snapped the corners first. That allowed me to grab the material in the center of the sides to pull on.

Have not seen this problem on my boot and I put it on any time the top will be down for more than a quick trip around town. I start center rear and work out on each side to the corners. This seems to work well but if the tonneau is not warm getting the lower snap on the interior side can be a real bitc... well, you know.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I will try starting with the corners. I usually start with the back center because it is the easiest to snap!
I am going to show it to my top installer, see if there is any way to "let it out" on the corners. Just a little extra give and it would be fine.

I too, lay it on to get centered and then start in the middle and work my way out. I kneel in the back seat and reach under the cover to push the rear of the clips down. Works easier IMO.
