Hi Jerry

AMD is a great chip, no issues with them. I use them myself.

That PC is on the lower end of current configurations, but looks ok to me. The setup looks pretty limiting in terms of upgrades - for example, you won't be able to add memory without replacing what you have, same with hard drives, and the integrated video is going to be decent at best. Plus, there isn't built in support for wireless networking, which is becoming standard these days. But, they have to cut costs somewhere. At $300, it's hard to go wrong, but the only thing that you might have second thoughts on is video editing - that tends to be pretty intensive. 3gb of memory and a 500 gb hard drive will work, but to me seem minimal for that kind of thing.

If walmarts return policy is what I think it is, then you should have no problem returning it if you don't like it.

Just my $.02

Im not a fan of AMD for many reasons the 2 that mostly come to mind...I have far more amds on my workshop than intel...and come to service packs and stuff things usually get complicated running patches and stuff...espec if the general public user.

do a little home video editing.
Yep if u want to do serious stuff will be a little slower with 3gig ram and Win7.

AMD have always been cheaper....

JR that processor is way to slow, you need something along this line it's what i'm using now and i love it! http://www.outletpc.com/mi1483.html?gclid=COPPq7CpyqwCFQLj7QodmB--qA#axzz1eRK1na3L

I don't think you will be happy with that machine doing video editting - editting is very processor intensive, RAM doesn't matter as much. At 1.33ghz that is going to take forever to finish editting a video. I run 3.33ghz on a quad core and it will load the processor up 100% and can still take 3x the actual footage time to complete a project render. You really want a quad core machine to do video work.

As Steve says ....and if as u describe "a little home editing" go beyond that.....

Nothing wrong with Amd but for video editing you will want something with faster cpu and 4 gb of ram would be nice but not necessary. The one you mentioned is fine for surfing the net and doing what 90% of people do. Video editing as mentioned ,you may be sorry.

Is there a step or two up from this that they offer. 500.00 range perhaps.

I have built and had many AMD CPU machines over the years and never had a problem.
A key area of concern with AMD processor OS is the small footprint for a heat sink.
You can not have enough heat sink and fan due to the processor speeds.
You do get what you pay for.
A 200-300 dollar machine is just that. Don't expect too much out of it and it is what it is.
Alot of hype in the add. I would pass myself. There are better machines to be built.
Kind of like a muscle car.
Would you want a Beautiful bling, bling 69 Camaro with a 6 cylinder or a 69 SS Big Block 4 speed 12 bolt Camaro that needs a paint job.

Its whats under the hood that counts.

Have some fun and build one up with a bare bone kit.

If you want a Guru's advice go here: http://forums.anandtech.com/

I'm Cheap I want an ASRock Extreme 4 GEN 3 and willing to wait for the IVY Bridge but hey by then the Sandy Bridge i2600K will be 1/2 the Price - What can I say I love Video Encoding but if you Game the i2500k will do just fine at 5Ghz's and Cash to a SSD. :o

By the way due to Floods in, where was that - Tiwain? who build all the motors for Storage Devices, HDD's are doubling in price.

The ASRock Extreme 4 Gen3 is by far the BEST MB on the Market for the Price considering it has a 12 PLL Vs the GA-Z68XP-UD4 with a 16 PLL but the GA-Z68XP-UD7 with a 24 PLL has to be something else and so is the Price.

The ASRock Extreme 4 Gen 3 has matched and Beat the BEST including ASUS & MSI for Clocking Plus it's Optioned with the Best Practicable Manual Over-Rides. For the Price, It and the i2500k CPU is the HOTROD & can't be beat for Value today.

Wait another 6 Mth's when the IVY Bridge is Introduced and you will save 1/2 the Price for a 5Ghz Sandy Bridge Box.

I would not be surprised if the IVY will do 6Ghz's with that 22nm Core.

Do you believe that Intel has a 640 Core Processor Disc that has Several Terabytes of Cash & totally Independent of a Main Board? It only needs an I/O Reader Device which Intel already has. The Future of Computing & the NET will Never End - Something like Politics.

When the 4.5 Ghz 4 Core IVY Bridge 22nm with Hyper Threading & CPU integrated GPU with SSD Caching Laptop comes in with USB 3 the market is going to EXPLODE and I mean BIG Time. They're making them right now and by February we can buy them for what price?

Yes I'm a SICK Addict but take heed I know what I'm talking about and that includes Muscle Cars - Particularily 66 to 73 Camaros, Acadians & Beaumounts (Canadians loved their Pontiac's) - HIC - LOL

Yep u can have 2 machines side by side same cpu ram etc and different mbs..with very different results.
An extra 30 on a cpu, 20 on ram , 40 on the mother board 40 on video card 20 on HD (wholesale NZ) and u have a very different machine characterists.
The diference between a daily cruiser and a top street strip same block different cam heads etc.
