I have a 94 camaro that wont start. It tries to start but diesel's and then dies. I have checked for fuel pressure and spark. It has fuel pressure at the shrader valve and has a spark but I think it is erractic and may be the cause. I did check for spark staight from the coil and it is fine. I have also checked the timing and replaced the the timing chain. I think the distributor is out and I hope i am wrong but i think the distributor unit is one pice and must be replaced as a unit. Any ideas of what could be wrong would be appriciated.

Get a can of 89 cent starting and spray some into the air intake while someone tries to start it. IF it starts and runs for a few seconds, you know it is a fuel problem. IF not, ignition. These cars are noted for poor ignition. Running through a water puddle can short them out. Dealer fix runs about 200 to 250 dollars. Might be worth the cost to get it right without spending a bunch on stuff that don't work. tom
