I'm looking at a 91 r/s 305 5 spd, no option light weight car with 26k on the clock. Whats going to break/ need to be up graded as i put more power under the hood.

Rear ends and transmissions in those years is more than a little suspect from what I know about them. Nice cars though, had a friend that had a cherry 91 RS that was new.

The 5 speeds were garbage. Don't even think if putting a 350 in front of one. They can't handle torque today's why every 5.7L had an auto.

I'm going to test that theory if I can ever find a decent (and cheap) 350.

Honestly I was going with a 406.

It's your car to do as you want but the 3rd gen is coming into it's own as a collector car. If you paid a premium for a 21 year old car with low mileage why not leave it stock?

If you got the car for a song you can flip it and probably pay for a high mileage 3rd gen and the complete mechanical build...

Think I'm going to pass on it, 5k was a good deal for a 26k milr car but ti much to modify with the crap economy will not work here.

Had an 89 RS (LO3/700R4) with no options (manual seats, windows and deck lid) a few years ago that I bought with intentions of making a drag car out of it. DD it for 5 years and then sold it with 225,xxx on the clock.

The 67 has priority on spare cash so I sold it...
