I have a 87 z28 iroc that is going to paint the hatch is part way open an cannot get it closed the car has no wires hooked up is their something I could do to get it shut? Thank You.

These use a motor assisted latch assembly, without power the latch will not 'pull' the hatch closed.
You could temp. wire to the motor to pull it closed - but the shop would have to do same to open it for cut-in and painting procedures.

I would recommend you talk to the shop and see what their needs are/will be and then decide.

You could just strap it down during transport if needed and they can open and close as needed.
