I like the 303 convert cleaner...does the job, and doesn't seem too harsh. The company also makes a preservative. As for the "Armor All"... wouldn't use it. IMO

+1 on the 303. It has a chelating agent that helps pull the dirt out of the vinyl pattern. Then use 303 protectant.

If you use Armor All and it rains on it shortly thereafter, then you will end up with Armor All all over your windows. Ask me how I know.

Just about any vinyl cleaner will work, stay away from harsh products like BleachWhite or OxiClean, if it's harsh on your skin it will attach the vinyl too. Use a soft brush like this in light dabbing motion and watch the dirt lift. Do a small area at a time and keep it wet and as the dirt lifts wipe it away.

You may be surprised how much dirt will come up out of your top this was compared to wiping it down with a towel. This works on door panels too.

Then to add protection to the clean top try a light coating of Meguiar's Endurence Tire Gel or JimmyG's Almost Wet...

I also have a White Top on my 69 Camaro, Nothing against Cam6t9 but I would not use Armor All on the Top either, I was warned of that when I first purchased my Convertible, truthfully I myself have not found anything that works, Some shop tryed to tell me to wet the top and put Comet Cleaner on and work in with a brush, no way would I do that. My plastic rear window is pretty scratched, and I don't like it, but if I invest in having another new top, what is stopping that from getting scratched as well!!!!!!!!!! Of course all the cleaning companies say theirs is the very best on the Market, buy it, it does not do what you want, then what, will they give you a refund, maybe.......................

A soft bristle brush and a slurry of baking soda and water works great.

ArmorAll will look really good.
For 30 minutes or until your car gets rained on. Living up here in the northwest, word gets around quickly.

303 is excellent and I have a black top now. Don't laugh but when my top(white) got to the point where it was worn out and needed replacement I used white shoe polish and I used it on the vinyl seats too. This might sound crazy too but Turtle wax f21 works extremely well and is much less expensive then the 303. Again these are only opinions you really need to go with what works for you. I am not a big fan of armorall either

I think the vert top is often one of the most neglected parts of the car when it comes to upkeep and maintainence, esp the plastic rear window.

I never ever roll the top down before doing a good clean of the rear window. It's surprising how much dirt/grit settle on the plastic, even after a car meet, eh? Again, I use a plastic protectorant to help deal with the UV rays if out for some time.

When Putting down the top, I will even get out to help in the folding, if it looks like a folds not going right. This is in the assembly manual, I think? And never leave the top down if in the garage.

Was told many years ago to place a soft clean terry towel-type cloth on the outside rear window to help a avoid the issue of scatches while the top is down. Seems to work.

And... after 12 or so years, the top still looks as new, and have little in the way of deterioration/scratches on the plastic window. I get asked all the time if the top is new.

For what it's worth.

I use Malco cleaner, was recommended here on this site, works good. White tops can be difficult to clean. I just used it on my Pace car and worked great..

4th one down from top of page....
