even in park/neutral, when I jump on the gas, the egine hesitates and stumbles before taking off. it idles OK before that.
I have a 67 vert, new crate 350 FB385 and a speed demon 650.
Any ideas?
thanks!

The Speed Demon carb, adjust all 4 idle mixture screws out equally to 1 1/4 turns.
Test drive, if it stumbles, try backing them out another 1/4 turn or so...if that doesn't work go the other way...I've found they are sensitive to that, and will cause hesitation.

I'm in no way an expert here... by my 327/210 factory stock 1969 had the same problem. I changed my dirty air filter and now she drives like a dream again.

I was having the same problem with my 750 holley. Check to see if you have a steady stream of fuel going in every time you give it gas. I adjusted my floaters a little higher and it went away. What I did is went and found a road nobody uses. I then stopmed it to see how to adjust the floats. And went up quater turns on the front and back. Then stopmed it again then adjusted and did this till I got it to work the way I wanted to. For some reason when I adjust the float levels to be under the sight hole it runs crappy. See my post on engine and drivetrain section.

Forget the carb brother. I had this problem in mine. I thought the car was dead. Until I checked the timing properly. You won't be sorry.
