I want to replace the header trim on the vert. It's in good shape with no dings or anything. Some pitting and dull. I ended up getting them off without a problem. Question....I read about the repos not fitting. Is there a company thats better than the others? The cheapest quote I got to replate was $440 for the pair:eek:. I'm not paying that....

Marc, have you tried doing a search? There have been a lot of threads devoted to this. My take is that none of the repro's fit very well, and the dull finish for the 68's and 69's is nothing more than silver paint and will probably wear off over time. I have yet to find anyone who can figure out how to duplicate the factory dull etched finish that came on the cars.

Yea I searched. There was one by Dynacorn I believe that fit OK. Heard the Classic Ind fit like crap. Hopeing someone will chime in with a set of chrome that fit well.

I would try some out of state chromers. I have had chrome finish done to raw stock, and that was with a lot of prep/buffing pre-work, and the cost was no where near what you indicated.

I'm not paying that....Don't buy aftermarket. the fit is terrible. There is a small shop near Pittsburgh Pa. that can chrome anything that will fit in his 2X2 foot tank at very reasonable prices and he does top quality work , but he won't do pot metal. He charged me around $50.00 each to do my header mouldings. Ask for Dale ( Dale Eddy ) 724 224-5119

I hope he doesn't mind me calling him also. I have a set that needs re-chroming.
Thanks for posting this info.

I called Dale today. real nice guy but he can't do mine because they are too big. Mine are 26" long and he said even if he angles them in his tank he does not think they would fit.

That really stinks. All of them are bigger than 24".

BJ... how did he do yours?
