Gas doesnt seem to be getting to the carburator because the car will not turn over. but when i spray the carb with starter fluid, then try to start it, it fires up for a second and dies back out. it acts like it wants to start but won't. please help. any suggestions?

First, do you have fuel in the tank? Check for a clogged fuel filter, and that the pump is working.

Don't be playing healthy shots of starter fluid. The heat is way higher than gas. Some wont ever use it because of that. Especially don't keep hitting the carb with it to keep the engine going. The car might never start again untill a new engine or heads, valves and pistons along with a rebore the cylinder walls. You could probably fry 10-20 engines with the amount of spray in some of those cans :D Well maybe just 10.
