what are the symptoms that you will need a new distributor on a 86 iroc camaro

there really isn't a lot that can go wrong on a late model- no advance mechanisms to freeze up or otherwise go wacky. i would say the only reasons you would have to replace it was if it was physically broken or something- like if it got hit with a hammer or something. what are your symptoms? could be a bad module, or the pickup is shot. either way, you still don't need to replace the whole thing, and it probably wouldn't run. otherwise, a cap and rotor can also be replaced.
