Have a 82 Z-28 crossfire injection. Suddenly as I was driving, the trans. failed to shift into the next lower gear and I turned the corner in overdrive. I have checked all that I know how. What would cause this sudden condition. On the hiway the car performs as it should. It seems to happen during city driving and more so when the car is warm.

Check the detent cable, if it is still connected to the linkage between the throttle bodies, be sure it is completely tight at full throttle. If this don't help give more info on the trans,I think it's a 700R4 isn,t it.

This may be your first "sign" of something going wrong with it. I love the 700R4 but, they do seem to have more than their fair share of problems....Sprags,Planetary's,etc.

These were the famous turbo 200 things in the Z's back then. As advised be sure the TV cable is still attached or could be broken or out of adjustment. These were not the "best" trans chevy made.
