Hi everyone...here is the deal...my b/f broke off my directional...this is located on the dashboard with the light switches...Chev said that there supplies of the unit are exhausted and is not repairable---that i need to find one at a salvage yard...apparently this is not very common...from the reaction i have gotten from 15 or so salvage yards(they think I am nuts)...so I can't drive the car without a directional (in NYC any ways without losing my arm)....any one have any ideas where I can find one of these?? Please help?

Most salvage yards are linked to a network and can order parts from other yards. Ive gotten hard to find parts this way before. You should also try yards that only carry GM cars that way they are more likely to get you the correct part. Good luck

My ex and me had an 84 Berlinetta w/ the 305 and 700r4 that had the same problem yours does. We actually found a brand new switch at our local Champion Auto. Other wise, call Ashley in parts and warranty at Sid Dilon Buick here in Lincoln, Ne (402)-464-6500. Tell her that Ryan with the Z28 sent you. We're pretty tight, so she'll take care of ya (she finds new GM parts for guys with late 60 and 70 Luxorods and Musclecars). Good luck to ya.
