I just bought a 77'camaro with a 350 lsi in it and when i go to the car and let it sit out for a day, it'll start up just fine. but when i take my foot of the gas itll die. and when i go to start it up again the car sometimes starts up but u still have to keep your foot on the gas or itll die. If you have any suggestions, please send them to me!

You may need a friend to help ... then start the car and one of you listen under the hood for a hissing sound ...look/listen for a vacuum leak... Keep the car running until it warms up ... you may have to up the idle speed by adjusting idle speed screw on the carb ... Big vac leaks sources can be PCV connected on front of carb, brake booster, connected on back side of intake, There is a vacuum line on back of carb that operates heat-riser flap in air-cleaner .....Also, you could have a bad EGR valve issue.... The best bet is probably to go through the basics of a good tune-up. get a Haynes or Chilton manual, 12 - 14 dollars and follow the procedures...Oh, there is also a vacuum line off back of intake going to the tranny if you have an automatic tranny. This line goes to the modulator valve. If you have a leak here, the car will have problem shifting when you accelerate. ... And, if you are getting black smoke from your tail pipe, you have an over-rich or possible flooding condition and you need to focus on the carb and possibly the choke .... Sorry about rambling ... YOu have several possibilities to look at ...
