my 67 rs/ss 350 has rusted out subframe mounts, the front mounts by the firewall to be specific,i purchased a repair kit from ricks first gen the kit is basicly 4 large washers so my question is do i need to weld these on from the top or the bottom of the old mount,i was thinking i could just remove the bolt and lower bushing then place the repair washer against the rusted out mount and reinstall the bushing and bolt, tackweld the washer in place then remove the bushing again and weld the rest of it up.is this the proper way to do this and if not please help im open to any suggestions. thanx alot kentucky joe

When I repaired my 68'ssubframe. I welded the plates (got my kit from Classic Indutries) in place. The plates I got were not just washer shaped. I welded them on top.

I suppose you could weld them on the top or bottom - I never really thought about this option??? I used a hole saw and cut the center out, ground it with a die grinder until the washers just slipped into the holes, and welded it in place . Then I ground it all smooth and flat. I think this gives you a better contact surface for the bushings so they don't seat against jagged rusty metal.
