I try to crank my 96-Z, all lights,ect work but engine will not turn over. It's a 6-speed so i mess pump clutch in and out few times then car will turn over. Have new battery. could it be security clip on key? electronic ignition? I have a new battery. Any ideas?

Sounds like clutch lock out safety switch. Try turning key to start and hold while pushing in clutch completely to bottom a couple times. IF it does start, you need a new switch or adjustment maybe. tom
