I recently changed the location of the temperature sensor for an aftermarket temp gauge from the cylinder head #2-4 to just below the thermostat housing. I did this so that I can use the stock idiot light as well as the gauge. I did this when I changed the Engine. The gauge goes as high as 230 degrees, the light does not come on. Has any one experianced a higher Temperature reading, at this location. Thanx

That seems pretty high at any location. Light doesn't come on usually until the water is about boiling. Might try flushing the radiator fins with a good pressure garden hose, spraying from the fan side to the front. Check thermostat rating. 195 is good for winter heat, not so good for summer. Fan clutch and shroud enclosure in good shape? tom

Thanx for the reply, The same gauge in the old enginge at the cylinder head was at 165- 180, When I moved to below the thermostat, then the gauge read on the high side. As for the thermostat, I run a gutted thermostat, just the outside ring. The rad is the same, no changes there. Any other Ideas??????
