Well, my car just rolled to a stop during a down shift - making sounds like nuts/bolts in a coffee can. I've got the car home and will be pulling the tranny out, figuring either the clutch or tranny went. With the motor running I can put it in any gear ( M20 ) without using the clutch and nothing happens. If I push the clutch pedal in, I hear the nuts/bolts symphony. Any ideas?

How much does an M20 weigh? Thanks for all ideas and pointers.

I would say the clutch too. When my M20 granaded, I'd put it in gear, pull out, and the tranny would lock up. I had to keep rocking it back and forth to get it to start rolling and get it home.

My guess on weight is 57 lbs.

I've had several failures of the disc. Most discs are pretty thin around the springs and can tear in that area.
