Ok my alternator belt started squeeking a few days back, so when I was checking it out to adjust the tension I noticed the alt bracket had a crack in it where it attches to the header bolt.
Bought a new bracket and it still sqeels, it looks like its lined up straight.
I do have the aluminum pulleys and the aluminum/chromed alternator.
Is there something I can do to get the squeeling fixed?? Im confused that it didnt do this before???

Mike, have you tried a new belt?

It may be burned up from slipping.

If the belt is shiney on the sides, then it's time for a new one... To check if it's your belt and not anything else (bearing, etc), wet a small rag and squeeze a few drops on the inside part of the belt while it's running (be careful). If the squeek stops, it's the belt, buy a new one, put it on and now you have a spare...

Thanks guys, I put some water on it and it stopped the noise. The belt is not more than 1 yr old but could of got damaged a little when the bracket broke.
Im off to the parts store to get a new one, nickle here, a dime there...It never stops..
I should get a pesonalized plate that says

"MONYPIT"

I had the same problem with an old truck of mine...would squeal when wet out and had all the accesories on. I bought one of those solid-v belts...not sure what to call it. They don't have all the gaps on the inside...just solid material. Problem solved.
