I am kind of embarassed to ask but... Can anyone tell me how to set my car to TDC without tearing things apart. I have 74 Camaro with a 73 chevy 350 out of another Camaro. Thanks.

I have 74 Camaro with a 73 chevy 350 out of another Camaro. Thanks. Rons68 Jul 25th, 02, 06:53 AM First, I would take all of the spark plugs out to make it easy to turn the engine over. You can then turn the engine with a 5/8" socket and ratchet. As you turn the engine clockwise, check to see if you are on the compression stroke by sticking you finger over the number one hole (driver side at front of car). If you feel air blowing out you're almost there. Keeping turning until the mark on the balancer aligns with "0" on the tab. If you don't feel any air coming out, you're on the exhaust stroke. Turn the crank one full turn, and then try it. If the engine has been running and the distributor is still in place, you can check for TDC by turning the balancer to the mark, then check that the rotor button is at the number one spark plug wire position on the cap. If it's opposite from it, give it another turn. Hope this helps, Ron. gateruner Jul 25th, 02, 07:58 AM Helps alot.
