As some of u may know i am building up my 68 convertible, its now time to set up my rear suspension! i have pretty much decided to go with mono leafs because of the softer ride and lower stance, 2 or 3 inch lowering blocks, sway bar (thats where i need suggestions) and competition engineering blot on subframe connectors (i dont do welding)

so, the question is mono or multi, what brand/size sway bar, and which subframe conn.

the car is not going to be raced or driven really hard, it will be a fast, comfortable weekend cruiser that of course i hope will handle good and ride smooth with no squeeks!!!

please let me know about your own experiences with any of these items!
thanks guys...

You might try posting on the suspension section.
I've seen a lot of posts from guys with the fiberglass mono leaf springs and they are very happy with them.
On super high perf engines 450 hp and up I think, the fiberglass springs are not supposed to be used, but for your application they should be fine.

A sway bar on the front would help a lot and stiffer front springs would really do wonders for it.
Your stock front springs are around 325 lbs per inch.
Hotchkis sells a 600 lb per inch front spring but that's pretty stiff for just crusing.

Look for something around 450 to 550 lbs per inch for the front.
If you were going for all the trick suspension and big sticky tires the 600 lb ft springs would handle it but are stiff riding.

I have a couple Camaro's that were built by Mark Stielow for the One lap of America race that are very nice driving street cars. Mark is a ride and handling engineer for GM. Both cars have Multi leaf rears made by Landrum spring. co. Neither cars have rear sway bars. You might contact Landrum Spring at 404-622-9348.

I used the Competition Engineering subframe connectors and have no complaints. I bolted them in because I'm still working on my car and I think it would be a hassle to have 'em welded up right now.

dont use a rear swaybar if this is just a street machine and you havent done major modifications to the front suspension, i.e. Gulstrand mod. A rear sway bar will actually make your handling worse. If you want all the technical reasons on why not to use the rear sway bar do a search on the subject in the suspension section, it has been discussed several times. also check out Pozzi's web site he has lot of good suspension info.

in the front i am going to use steeroids power rack and pinion, 2" drop spindles with a stock type spring or maybe coilovers but once again i dont want to do any welding/cuting however i did hear somewhere that someone makes a bolt on coil over kit??
my car is a factory 6cyl.... i was maybe gunna leave the springs depending on the ride quality and height??

i dunno.... any suggestions would help

oh, im running a GM ZZ4 crate with a 700r4 tranny and 17X8 wheels, if that helps!

thanks again guys
