Hello, I'm new to this computer stuff, so please bear with me. I have a 79 Z-28 and am having problems with the side windows sealing against the wheather strips. I have new felts all around, and I also adjusted the guides on the inside of the doors (under the door panels) out to keep the window from flopping around. Now the windows won't seal, won't even roll up completely when driving. Are the tracks, or rollers wore out? I have heard this is a common problem with these car, but no one seems to have a corrective action or solution for me. If someone can give me even a clue on how to correct this problem, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

best bet would be to get a factory assembly manual. windows adjustment is covered in great detail. There are lots of adjustments, including stops front and rear that limit how far up the windows go, and a fore and aft adjustment for the whole window.

Factory service manual? I thought you had to be a GM mechanic to get your hands on one of those. If you happen to know where I can come be one, please, let me know. I don't thing the local dealers will sell them "over the counter". Will try to round up a Chiltons or something like. Maybe it has some adjustment proceedures. Appreciate the help.

yes, you can buy them. In fact, all five new chevies I bought in the last 14 years came with order forms in the back of the owners manual!! Just order one up. The resto houses that deal in newer car stuff in addition to first gen's, such as D & R, will have them, too.
