: Normal Oil Pressure?

I recently had the 327 / 210 HP rebuilt in my 69 Camaro. Since then the engine has been burning oil and getting low oil pressure, although, I admit, it seems to have good performance. It doesn't sound or feel like an engine that is burning oil. Anyway, since I am tight on money I've been driving it around anyway. Around town it seems to burn a quart every 1000 miles or so. I recently installed new Autometer gauges and they read that I am getting about 13 psi oil pressure when the car is warm. It goes from about 50 psi cold to 13psi warm. Water temp is about 180 when warm. Is this low oil pressure for a 69 327? What is normal?

Odd...I'd question the guage. I can't imagine your engine would have survived long at 13 psi. Anything under 20 is dangerous...40 is normal with some fluctuation for operating temps, rpms, and crankcase ventilation. Or, you might have some internal probs/cracks reducing oil pressure...but you say it runs fine. Check the guage.
