I recently added a new intake and carb to my 77 camaro with a 305 th 350 transmission. The carb and intake are edelbrock. when I drive the transmission shifts but not until it hits like 3500-4000 rpm's that can't be good for the tranny so my question is what causes this? The vacuum or the kick down cable is there an adjustment for the carb I need to set Please help me out

First of all....make sure the vacuum modulator line is connected to MANIFOLD vacuum (vacuum present at idle) and make sure the line is still attached to the modulator.(may have pulled off when You disconnected the top)
Second...Check the adjustment of the kickdown cable...Make sure it is not binding...
Fluid level IS OK....right?...

Make sure the kickdown cable itself is not frayed or corroded and is binding , holding the cable in "wide open throttle" position.
