I have a 1996 Camaro RS: I ran out of gas two days ago. As soon as I felt the enging hesitate, I shut it off and pulled over. After filling the tank, the engine will hesitate to start after it has been sitting for more than a few hours, or if it is parked on an incline. Any ideas on what I might have wrecked??? I've heard fuel filter and pump, or air in the lines.

I know that a eletric fuel pump requires gas for lubrcation... It can be damaged by running it dry...

With the car runnig do you hear any humming noise. A failing pump will sometimes humm real loud. Also you could have clogged the fuel filter because the pump sucked up dirt and other crap from the bottom of the tank.

I had the same problem in my 90 RS...i let it idle for about an hour.(ops, forgot about it!) and came back and it was sputtering...so i shut it off and it wouldnt start after i refueled it!! turns out that the fuel pump was shot..took me about 10 days to rip the ass end off to get to the tank..what a job...
one way to test if it IS the fuel pump is to turn the key on to accesories position and listen for a humming noise that lasts about 2-3 secs...thats the fuel pump...i think...
or maybe im just stupid
