My 69 has one of the old style Saginaw power steering pumps - the pulley goes on the shaft guided by a key in the shaft, like a harmonic balancer on a crankshaft. I purchased a rebuilt pump, however, I can't get the pulley off of the old pump. Would I be advised to take the thing to the machine shop and see if they can press the pulley off?

you can rent the tool to change the pully. it is no problem at all to change good luck
