I got a 600 Holley Carb that I just put a power valve in and before I put it back together I sprayed out the passages in the metering block with carb cleaner but I still had the float bowl attached to it and now the car won't idle but will run fine once off idle I was wondering if I got any trash in the float bowl by keeping it assembled with the metering block. And also there is a lot of trsh in my see through fuel filter. What is the best way to get the trash out with the engine running by smothering the carb with your hands while someone gives it gas or take the carb apart and clean out the float bowl. I would like to do it with the engine running if possible.

Take it apart and clean it so you don't have to fiddle with it again; also, get rid of the see-through fuel filter and rubber hoses and clamps - it's a fire hazard. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

also check your metering block gaskets... and your float level ....
