I have a 92 Camaro SS, when I put a new fuel pump these pump get damage (no works anymore) in an hour or less. I replaced the original fuel pump with an external one that delivery at 18 Psi. And changed too the fuel regulator whit an external regulator (regulated at 12 Psi.), placed after the TBI unit, these system not use return fuel line (it’s like a carburetor fuel system). These combination works very well, but after 45 minutes the engine starts to shut off. I have to turn off the engine for a few minutes I start the engine again and works for a few time (exactly like when and old original fuel pump needs to be replaced). What happen?

When the engine starts to shut down:
The fuel pump doesn’t get hot,
The fuel pump works poorly (no vibration),
The fuel filter it’s ok (placed before fuel pump),
The fuel pump always has a gas,

Fuel pump technical:
140 gph free flow,
Delivers fuel at 18 psi,
Draws 2 amps.

Sorry by my English.

I thought EFI systems needed around 30 PSI. Right guys???

But the TBI systems needed around 9-13 psi. I got this from a Chilton’s Camaro 1982-92 repair manual.

If your engine has TBI than it is a 305 VIN code "E" (8th digit on your VIN #). Regardless of what engine you have 3.1, 305 (2 of these), or 350 ALL of them have a fuel tank return line on a 92' Camaro. Look at the back of the TBI unit. There are two lines, the smaller line is the return line.
Suggest you bite the bullet, drop the gas tank and put a new GM (AC Delco) fuel pump, strainer, and fuel pump relay in.

Sounds like garbage in the fuel tank clogging the system.

I checked the TBI’s fuel presure regulator when the engine is idle, it’s show me a variance between 15 and 12 Psi. Not and harmonic variance, It’s dancing between these values. ¿Is it the problem?

Drew, you wrote me, “put a new GM (AC Delco) fuel pump, strainer, and fuel pump relay in” but ¿if is the TBI’s presure regulator?.

Phel69, the fuel tank, pipes and fuel filter are clean.

A GM TBI unit will run fine at 14 psi as long as fuel volume is there.

The point is why are you trying to redsign the fuel system with an aftermarket fuel pump and regulator?

There are hundreds of thousands of these cars out there and work fine with the correct parts.

What are you trying to do?

These reads was take with an AC Delco fuel pump not with an after market one.

In your last post it sounds to me like you still have pressure when the car shuts off. In another post you said you could turn the key off for a while and it will restart.

This sounds to me like the ign coil, or module is getting hot and quiting, and cooling enough to run a while again. I would check for fire out the plug wires when it shuts off, but you need to do that before it has time to cool and restart.

Well, I'm really confused here.
You stated in your first post:
"I replaced the original fuel pump with an external one that delivery at 18 Psi. And changed too the fuel regulator whit an external regulator (regulated at 12 Psi.), placed after the TBI unit, these system not use return fuel line (it’s like a carburetor fuel system)."
If you are not using the in tank fuel pump (in the gas tank) than you have changed or redesigned the fuel system regardless of who made the external pump your using.
All I'm saying is stay with original (OEM) type parts on your fuel system.
I also have to agree with Larry, you may have an igntion module or coil going bad and it can act like a fuel problem.
