I get exhaust in the driver's compartment of the convertible when I have to drive with the windows up. I also notice the burnt exhaust smell when I stop and idle at a light or stop sign. I've tuned the car, and I've leaned it out as much as it'll go. It's not real bad, but I'd like to eliminate it. I'm running a 218/226 cam; is the long exhaust duration causing some unburnt fuel exhaust? Is there something else I should check?

"Windows up"? - where does your exhaust system exit? Have you checked the rear floor, trunk pan and rear quarters for rust holes or the ol' "swiss-cheese" effect common on your side of the country? Is the trunk seal in good condition?
Is the exhaust system in good condition all the way to the rear exit area?

The dual exhaust is new (last year) and exits behind the rear wheels. I'll check the trunk pan, but it was replaced by the body shop 2 years ago. The convertible has a fold down rear seat, so if fumes are getting in the trunk, they'd be able to work into the passenger compartment. I'll look for holes under the convertible top well, too.

Check the rear clamps on the muffler. On mine the front was mig wleded the the rear clamped. Strange but found out the clamps don't hang to well since the left let the pipe slide out. The shop didn't use mufflers with a slot so the clamp would not compress the muffler onto the pipe. Oh well I guess clamp half on and off the muffler and tail pipe might be what you have ended up with also to keep the two clamped. Maybe your front might be that way. The rear is easy to check without jacking the car up.
