I just finished installing a NOS Superpowershot System on my 383. A little background on the motor..
It is a completely new 383. Scat crank, pink rods, TRW forged psitons, ARP Studs on everything, everything balanced (internally and externally). I used the complete Edelbrock package including aluminum heads, cam, 750 cfm carb, water pump, etc.
I have an msd box with an hei and mallory pro coil.
My new fuel system uses a Holley Blue Pump, with 6an braided line, into a Moroso Fuel Block into two seperate Holley Regulators (one for carb set at 5psi and one for nitrous set at 7psi).
The nitrous system uses a throttle switch to activate the nitrous. I also have the purge valve, bottle heater, and remote opener.
I took the car (1969 Camaro) out today for the first time. Ran it around town and warmed it up and everything ran well. Got it out on a deserted stretch of road, activated the nitrous system and began to get on the car in first gear.
I floored the pedal once I was over 3000 rpm and the nitrous kicked in. It immediately spun the tires, the shift light went off (5000rpm) so I let off and shifted into second.
Again, I worked the rpms up to around 2500-3000 and then romped on the gas to activate the nitrous. The car ran awesome. I was very impressed.
I shifted into third before I ever saw the shift light, drove another 100 feet or so and the car went dead!
I smelled gas and thought it might be flooded. I let it sit for about 5-10 minutes and then tried to restart it. The car would start with the pedal pushed all the way down, but it runs really rough and only at WOT.
I had the car towed home and pulled the valve covers. Everything looks fine-nothing broken, bent, or off center and all the roller rockers move when you crank the car over. There is no clanking or clunking either.
My next move is too pull the plugs and take a look....but I am a little baffled.
Help!
Thanks
Mike
