i know this is a chevy site, but my buddy has a 1967 buick 340 engine he wants to rebuild. This must be a rare engine because barely anyone makes parts for it. He wants to know if there is any interchangeability between buick engines to make it easier for him to get parts. Wouldnt a lot of buick 340 parts interchange? thanks for your time

Tell him to invest in a buick 455 and he'll find all the parts he wants.

That must be a rare engine, the only 340's I've ever heard of were Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth products.

Buick did make a 340 in the 60's sometime. nailhead, i think .can't remember when. they got put in the mid size cars, and i guess they did alright.

The 340 buick was basically the same as a 300 buick, while the 350 buick was a new design closer to the 400/455's. 340's are kinda rare...but I believe that the whole 350 rotating assembly will bolt in. I'll have to dig for this stuff. 350 buick parts are much more common, and they was some pretty good running engines to.
