Can anyone help me? I'm thinking of buying this 68 Camaro off of a guy who is moving in two days and he tells me that it's a true 68 R/S SS. Was there such a car? If so, what are the serial numbers and codes i should be looking for on the cowl tag and inner door trim panel.
thanks alot for your help.......

yes there is such a car. finding out if it is true is a little harder. on a 68 there was not much ino on the trim tag. the rs will have hidden headlights. there are very many posts here about verifing rs and ss. i'd suggest searching the archives.

Mike, I have a 67 RS which I'm pretty sure is a clone. Do 67s have the same problem with determining this.

on a 67 you have much more info on the trim tag. a true rs should have the code 3L in the last line on the trim tag.

if you post your trim tag and vin in the tag team section, someone will help you decode it to see what options you had.

Although Mike's reply may be true for a 67, it is not the case for 68. This year did not have any trim tag marking to identify the ralley sport package, nor did it have tag info for a SS. There was such a beast, but I would highly suggest buying the Camaro Guide for 1967/1968, it is full of information that will answer any question you have.

The original post was for a 68 not a 67 and it is titled a 68 rs/ss.

Oh, o.k. Mike, I see what your talking about. Your covering both years, my mistake.

no problem. now i don't know what the car is. check the tag team section and he posted a 67 vin and trim tag. no reply yet. i was just wondering if it's a 67 or 68?
