turbo eric Jul 15th, 02, 12:47 PM I have put new pulleys on. Made sure the pulleys are in alignment. Even sanding the inside of the pulleys with sandpaper. I got a smaller belt to sit down deeper in the grooves. Still no luck. Stays on when cruising, but when a race an hit 7,000 rpm the belt must float and come off. Any help would be great. Thanks storman Jul 15th, 02, 12:52 PM had the same problem even went to new brackets to keep the alt from moving, still no luck. ended up with under drive pulleys no more problems. also some belts are softer an stretch more than other brands, good luck 67FREAK Jul 15th, 02, 05:29 PM i had the same problem, get the pulleys off of 85-86 chev truck v-8, they have a serpentine drive for the water pump and alternator and v-belt for the power steering, but you will have to move the alt. to the passenger side. cost me 25 bucks for the pulleys and i have never had a problem since, and it looks good to boot. I had the same problem a week a go with my a/c belt.I got every belt out there from a good/year to gates belts,and finaly dayco "TOP COG" BELT. It stays on all the way to 7500rpm no more problems.Good luck.Nick JohnZ Jul 19th, 02, 11:51 AM If you have the correct deep-groove pulleys and they're properly aligned and you use Dayco "Top Cog" belts, you won't throw any more belts.
