I have put new pulleys on. Made sure the pulleys are in alignment. Even sanding the inside of the pulleys with sandpaper. I got a smaller belt to sit down deeper in the grooves. Still no luck. Stays on when cruising, but when a race an hit 7,000 rpm the belt must float and come off. Any help would be great.

Thanks

i had the same problem, get the pulleys off of 85-86 chev truck v-8, they have a serpentine drive for the water pump and alternator and v-belt for the power steering, but you will have to move the alt. to the passenger side. cost me 25 bucks for the pulleys and i have never had a problem since, and it looks good to boot. If you have the correct deep-groove pulleys and they're properly aligned and you use Dayco "Top Cog" belts, you won't throw any more belts. Almost any belt will work up to 5000 rpm, but above that, you need GOOD belts; I've NEVER thrown a "Top Cog" belt.
