I have a 69 camaro with a 468 big block.the problem is it uses oil a quart under 200 miles if you run it hard and let off i have a cloud of blue smoke in the rearview mirror i had these same heads on a 396 and it did the same thing i know it's in the heads i was told it might be the intake not sealing. the heads are 67 model closedchamber and have been reworked at local machineshop

Does it have a high volume oil pump? BBs can be a real pain about valve guide leakage. If you have a high volume oil pump it is putting so much oil up top that the seals can't control it. Make sure the guides aren't loose and put in a good set of seals.

Sounds like seals to me, although big blocks are famous for bad valve guides. Try replacing the seals first. I did my seals using the compressed air in the cylinder trick, worked well.

The running hard and letting off and getting a cloud of blue smoke is a sure sign of bad ring seal. At any rate it is related to a high vacuum sucking oil past something. I've had this happen from a bad intake gasket seal between the port and the lifter valley and also with a crack in an overported intake passage. Bad guides will usually smoke badly after the car has been sitting a while and then go away.I giess if the guides were really horrible they might cause this.
