I have a 69 350cid 300HP all original engine with everything stock and numbers matching. I start the car about every month and drive on nice days (it's a convertible). It takes around four cranks to get it going. Does anyone know about the Pertronix up grade you can drop into the factory distributor? I would liek to keep it stock looking as possible. Any help is gratefull!

I put the Pertronix set up in mine (the LSC one, first gen). It was an easy conversion, check out the pertronix 2 (new version?). I haven't had any problems with mine.

i put a small body hei in mine. - this converts the stock point dist. to a hipo hei unit, it still uses the external coil for a complete stock look (these are done by IgnitionMan - see the chevelle board).
i've been pretty happy with it.

We bought that for my son's '63 Chevy II. I installed it & had the car started up in 5 or 10 minutes. Since it has two wires coming out, you have to file the notch in the distributor cap to make it larger. Also, you have to re-time your engine when done.

There is a new one out from another company that has a single wire coming from it. It is $139 (intro price, regular of $159), while the Ignitor was $75. I'm not at home right now, so I can don't know what the URL for the new one is.

The main reason we bought it for his was because of hard starting if we didn't start it every day. Now it starts right up every time.
