I just installed the Hooker Super Comp Ceramic Coated Headers (2131) 1.75" on my 68 Camaro small block and I noticed a dent in the passenger header already. The Idler arm is hitting it when I turn the wheel all the way to the right. Is this just because of the bigger headers or could it be something more serious, front end related. Are there different idler arms? I need some help because I just dented a $400 set of headers. Thanks, Erik

How old is the idler arm? If its worn out and loose it could be moving up and down to much. Just grab the arm if theres more than a little bit of play up and down buy a new one. Also check your motor mounts to see if there still good and intact.

I have the same set on my 69 camaro with no problem of hitting. The arm is a little close ,but it has not hit the header.

I had the same problem with my 331 68 Camaro. I ordered Hedman Hussler big tube headers and they fit great but did touch the idler arm when the steering was turned all the way and dented the primary tube. My car had a frame off and the steering was tight and I was using the correct motor mounts. I've heard this is pretty common. It's upsetting because the headers were ordered for this exact installation.

I just got off of the phone with Holley and they said these headers are probably older headers since I did by them used off of ebay. The were never bolted on a car, they were only used as headers for a dyno in Pheonix somewhere. Anyways, he said these headers (2131) had to be retooled due to the idler arm hitting the header, so I obviously have an older set of headers. I was hoping it was this and not something wrong with the front end of my car. Thanks for the replies. Erik
