Hi guys,
Driving home last night, slow down to turn a corner and the engine just died. Waited about 30 minnutes, went back and held to accelerator to the floor, the engine started, I placed the car into Drive to pull it into the garage and it died again. What could be wrong? I had a friend of mine tell me "points". I'm not sure. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I had a similar problem years ago. I had over greased the distributor shaft and rubbing block. Grease found its way up between the breaker point contacts. If you forget to install a ballast resistor or use the resistor wire, an overheating coil can do this as well. The tell-tale signs of an overheating coil are that it is buldging on the botton and possibly cracked or oozing oil from around the top.

Do you have an HEI in it, sounds like it might be the pickup coil. If not check to see if a primary wire came off your coil if you are running the older distributor. Just a couple of ideas. graemlins/beers.gif
