How does it drive with the tps unplugged? I would see if it does the samethings with the tps unplugged. Does the check engine light ever comeon? It should comeon anytime you have the key on without the engine runnig. If its not coming on or is dim or flickering than theres a computer problem. Also does the light come on when your setting the timing.
Ive never had to disconnect the tps to set the timing on any gm car, they usally have a wire on the fire wall that is unplugged and used for setting the timing. Though i have never set the timing on a camaro it could be differnt than the other gm cars and trucks. I would double check with a manual and also check the emissions lable under the hood it should also say how to set the timing.

the book on my car says to bypass the tps when you are timing it but when i get it to the mark it sputters like it is missing ive replaced the plugs and wires, tps sensor oxyogen sensor, egr valve and my next guess would be the distributor

Your balancer could have slipped. Pull number one plug and using a screw driver incert it in the spark plug hole. Slowly turn the engine over by hand until the screw driver stopps moving out. that should be tdc on number one. Now make sure that rotor points to number one terminal on cap. If its of about 180 than you need to turn the crank shaft again and find tdc again. Once you find tdc again look at the balancer. If its more than 4 or 6 degrees than the balancer has slipped. just make sure you watch the screw driver real close and make sure it touchs the top of the piston.
