I've looked through the archives and can not find any info on adjusting the trunk bows.
You know, the ones that spring the trunk lid up without you pulling it up by hand.
It has to overlap somehow to create tension to "pop" the lid upward from the latch.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Dan

Dan, There are some recent posts on this. There are two or three notches you can set the bar in to increase the tension. I read that car with spoilers have one bar thicker than the other.

BTC,
Thanks for the info. I'll look this weekend for the necessary magic to adjust the bows.

Does anyone know of a place where I could get the one larger spoiler bar from?

Thanks.

I pumped up the tension in my trunk bows since my trunk did not originally have a spoiler and does now. I used a large pair of vice grips screwed down on the free end of one of the bows very very tightly and pulled it out of its notch and into another one. It takes lots of muscle.....I had to get in the trunk to get leverage on one of them.

JRT,
What slot did you put the bow in?
I moved mine to all 3 slots without any inprovement. I think one of the bows has to cross over the other bow to create the "spring".
Do you happen to have any photos of your set up?
Thanks, Dan

Unfortunately I do not have any pics of the setup, however the bows must cross over each other in the middle to create the tension. It's more like a single spiral type twist then a simple crossover. My springs were in the middle slot originally(no spoiler), and with the spoiler on, the trunk would close sometimes by itself if the car was on a hill. I moved the bows on each side to the top notch to create the highest tension. The trunk doesn't pop up by itself, but stays up unassisted now.
