I have a 80 Z28 and my brakes only work in the back. i was thinking of changing everything like the master cylinder and power booster. The only thing i did so far was everything from the lines to pads. As anyone done this yet to an 80 Z28 and have some part numbers i could use so i don't get the wrong things or might know what's wrong? thanks..

Ace, did you check the fluid level in the mast cyl ? If it was low, you may have a leak somewhere ... Unless the brake pedal is very stiff, you may not need to replace the booster ... but i would check the mast cyl ( and the metering valve if mast cyl is good or problem is still not resolved after changing mast cyl ... ) Assuming that this is an all stock setup, any parts store should have bo problem giving you the rights parts ... remember you should bench bleed your master cyl bvefor installing it on the car ...

i got a new booster but the new master cylinder doesn't fit in the hole. it's too small. The booster is out of an 80 and the new master cylinder is made to fit 80 but they don't? Any ideas what i should try next? Thanks

does the new mast cyl fit the old booster? If so, install that setup and assess where you are ... you can always put a new booster in later without "opening" the hydraulic system ... remember, there is no fluid in the booster ... once again, if new mast cyl doesn't fix the problem, check the metering valve ... BTW , I have purchased mast cyl separately, BUT the times I have bought a booster from a parts store, the Mast Cyl came with it ... buying from a salvage yard, I would not recommend a used mast cyl ( because of the age and wear ) .
