: Slipping Powerglide

I have a stock 1969 Powerglide which was rebuilt about 12 years ago in my 69 Camaro. I recently installed a new 330 hp GM crate engine and now I am experiencing a "slip" in between first and second. The problem gets worse as the transmission gets warmer. I am using Dextron III trans fluid and it is full and new. The trans works fine otherwise. Is this something that is easily remedied (i.e.: Shift Kit, Low Band adjustment, etc.)or is there a rebuild in my future? If so does anybody have any recommendations for a shop in the L.A. or adjacent areas for a street/strip application.

Thanks, John

Just had the same problem with my 67 PG only 200 miles not 80K. Took it in and the fix was to adjust the bands on low gear. It was explained to me that low works on the bands while drive works off hydraulics. If low band is too loose, it fully releases before the hydraulics can take over, hence the slip. Being from PA can't help you out w/ L.A.
Best of luck

Thanks that seems like a logical solution, just trying to get some input before I take it somewhere. I can't remember the last time I adjusted my low band.

Just make a SLIGHT adjustment to the band and test drive..too much and it will burn up the band REAL quickly..
