I was wondering if anyone has even seen a finned heat sink for the small body Mallory UniLite distributors. I have a problem with the module overheating and failing. There are no problems with the coil, resistor or bearings. This distributor is in a boat where there is no air flow. I thought you guys might have seen a heat sink like this. It seems as if I have, but I can't remember where. Do you mind pretending the boat has SS/RS emblems on it and was built in 67 ??

I ran a unilite and mine failed numerous times finally i got fed up and went with MSD, too bad too when the mallory worked it worked well. I never heard of a heatsink for it but maybe you could put some thermal grease on it where it contacts the distributor body. They use thermal grease in computers to keep the cool, maybe it will work with the module. coolerguys.com has this type grease, i hope the site is right, if not just search for it. The stuff is called Artic Silver.

Your supposed to put grease on the bottom of the module and where it sits on the dis. If you don't it will fry. Also wouldn't hurt to put a volt regulator on the wires. Mallory makes one just for the unilites, it plugs in between the 3 wire connector that's on it. Check out jegs or summit for one.
