I have been dealing with a vibration problem. See my previous post 1 week ago. I have removed the tranny, cluth, and bellhousing. I noticed that my bellhousing was cracked at one point and repaired. The crack is near the clutch fork and has been welded. Could this create an alignment problem with my input shaft? Another issue should the bellhousing have 6 bolts or 7? I ignored this during installation because it came off of a Small Block Chevy. But now I am wondering if this is the correct bellhousing.

Thanks Jeff

One more question does anyone know how I can check what application my bellhousing fits?
The number of it is 3872444.

Chev bellhousings use 6 bolts whether SBC or BBC.

Welding alum will always upset the physical shape, the alignment, i.e.

If you can find another good used one, go for it!

Take the number and go see your buddy at the GM Parts counter and do a reverse look-up.

Thanks for the information. I just picked up a used one this evening. I originally thought that the crack was small, put after further examination the crack was extensive. I am hoping this is the cause of my vibration problem...

Thanks Jeff
