I think I know the answer to this but want your guy's input here. 454 with stock point dist. Been running under the weather lately. Check dwell, 40. http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif Change that to 30, and put timing light on it. Showing me 22 intitial. http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif Drop it down to 12. I did the timing with vac. advance plugged. With vac. advance unplugged engine at 3K RPM reaches 28 total. With vac. advance hooked up, the same. http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif 12 initial, 28 total at 3K. Think my vac. advance pot crapped. What do you guy's say? I've noticed that "rocket launch" feel isn't a strong.

The vaccuum pot is easy to check...remove the cap and rotor and the vaccuum advance hose...there is a rod that comes out of the vac pot into the distributor that is connected to the advance plate...push the rod as far as you can up into the vac pot, put your finger over the vac port on the pot, and release the rod, and if the rod goes back to its static setting then it is bad. Its not that uncommon.

Sounds like it is gone..
At idle, plug the advance hose into a good vaccum source, the speed should go up. Or do that with a timing light on it and watch for advance.
They don't last forever!
