My 68 350 is majorly stalling when you stomp on it. It stalls for a second or two then takes off. Checked timing and is at 8' advance. New flamethrower hei distributer. It has a Qjet how do I adjust it so that this stops?

stiffen up the secondary spring tension. its on the passenger side. you'll see a little screw to the side of the shaft(air valve)under the screw theres an allen head screw to lock it. hold the screw and unlock the allen screw, turn the regular screw 1/8 of a turn and lock it with the allen. remember this regular screw is under tension so don't let go of it!!! keep doing this until the bog goes away.i've seen the springs break so be awear that its not broke already. i've seen MANY(me including)think that a faster opening secondary will make the car faster,NOT! it just makes it sound cool, until it bogs. hope this helps

Don't know any motor particulars (compression, etc..), but 8 degrees base timing seems low. My 302Z is at 15 degrees base and 36 degrees total. Mechanical advance starts at around 1500rpm and peaks at 4000.
Solid lifters, 650 dual line Holley, Factory cam and intake.

What do you recommend I set the timing to? 350 bored 30 over, headers, cam.
