my 86 camaro's heater has started blowing
cool air only. new heater core was installed
6 months ago. any ideas??

Water is not getting to it. Check the valve in the heater hose line to see if it's opening to allow water to flow.
Or, god forbid, there just isn't enough coolant in the system. It happened to me once in a 71 powerwagon with a 318. That's how I knew I was low on water. http://www.camaros.net/forum/eek.gif Hard to kill those 318's. http://www.camaros.net/forum/smile.gif

heater hose lines are coming right off the water pump. you do know where the water pump is, do you? if not, you can look under your hood and you will notice 2 black hoses clamped together wrapping around the passenger side of the engine going into the passenger side of the firewall. there is a "to"line going into the heater core and a "return" coming from the core back to the water pump. a quick test would be to unhook the to line fron the water pump and see if there is even water flowing through it. if there is water flowing through it, it will drain out.
