I have a 92rs 305 TBI and I was wondering if anyone could tell me a little more about the trouble code "54" and what does it really mean, and can you let it go for awhile without fixing it,
Thanks

go to this link for trouble codes http://www.westecauto.com/TechInfo/tcodes/GM/GM.html

I believe 54 is "fuel pump voltage not present"

good luck

Generally it indicates there was a loss of fuel pump voltage while the engine was running.
If the fuel pump voltage is below 2 volts for over 1.5 seconds while the ecm is recieving ignition module pulses. It sets the code.

If the fuel pump relay goes bad, you will have extended engine cranking until the engine until oil pressure is high enough to close the oil pressure switch that sends voltage to the fuel pump.
The relay is mainly there to supply voltage to the fuel pump until the engine starts.
