I have a 67 327 camaro and i just put on a new oil pump, cam shaft, push rods, lifters, rocker arms, intake, and carb. When i tried to start it there was this huge "bang", which the cam installation guide said was a normal reaction if the timing was far retarded. So i advanced the timing more and now the engine won't turn over. What is wrong????

Double check the firing order and make certain you've got the number 1 wire firing when #1 is supposed to fire. Suggest you pull #1 plug and crank til you feel compression, bring to TDC and check position of rotor. Is it pointing at #1? If so, replace the blown power valve in your Holley and try again by playing around with the distributor position a little each way.

If that doesn't do you any good, are you certain the cam is where it should be? If not email me and I'll tell you how you can check without tearing everthing apart using a dial indicator and timing tape on your balancer.

i figured it out. My valves were adjusted wrong and i had no compression at all. I had one of my friends come by and adjust them the right way. Everything is fine now and it is great to be driving my car again!!!
